When children press the top of this very special Sit 'N Spin, they're treated to music and lights. Each time they press they'll hear 1 of 6 classic children's songs like "Rockin' Robin," "Polly Wolly Doodle," and "She'll Be Comin' Round the Mountain" just to name a few. Or for quiet play, children can just hold the wheel as they spin. Requires 3 "AA" alkaline batteries (not included). Some assembly required.

Could have been a 5 * but....
I remember enjoying these as a kid and our family had one for years. When some gave us this one I thought it was pretty neat but WOAH is that music LOUD, there is no volumn control and while I'm not a prude and want only quiet toys, contrary, I want toys that will stimulate young minds so I don't mind noise but this thing IS LOUD! So I put some tape over the 2 speakers (LOOKS like there are 4 but music only comes from 2) I put tape over the speakers and wah-la just the right volume now.

But I read why people rated this negatively. And I am glad, I thought it was just my imagination---but it's TRUE, this must be smaller than the original version I grew up with. At 18 months I tried to help my daughter spin on it yet for her to sit on it her chest would rub the steering wheel.

By 2 she could spin it herself but would risk a tumble with each turn as she tried to balance herself on the small base and still manuever the steering wheel.

A big turnoff is portability. To pick this up and move it you have to hold the bottom end otherwise it falls off the handle, perhaps it was meant to screw in and ours is missing a screw?

Anyway, if someone wants to buy one cheap then I know where you can get one haha.

Little Durability
My kids have always loved the "sit n spin", but I purchased the one with lights and sound for my 2 1/2 yo daughter. Within a short amount of time, the underside of the "handle" was cracking up the side.
It's a fun toy, but the durability just isn't there...unlike it's past counterpart.

Fun for the kids; too noisy for Mom!
I was going to buy this Music & Lights Sit 'n Spin: Rockin' Tunes for Devon for his first birthday last January, but his mother beat me to it. He's been spinning on this for eight months and still loves it. What a treat to observe that adorable little guy playing and enjoying every minute of life. His laugh is pure joy as he spins around, his smile brightening the faces of the entire family.

This toy has held up well, which says much for its durability because Devon's a pretty rough-and-tumble kid ... as boys should be, of course. ... lol ...

He loves the music ... much more than his mother does, so I'm going to suggest she take the advice of another reviewer and remove the batteries. I'm certain Devon would still have fun with this classic--music or no music.

Devon recommends it highly! Mommy recommends it with reservations about the too-loud music, so I'm giving it four stars.

Fun toy, but annoying
We received this as a gift for our 18 month old daughter. Within a few days she was able to sit and spin. She love it!

We still have it 2 years later and it has held up to many children playing with it. Very durable.

I gave it 3 stars because there are some things which we do not like:

1. There isn't an off switch so every time the child plays the music will play. It does get annoying for parents but it also gets annoying for the child. My daughter will often put her hands over the speaker. She likes the toy for the spinning, not for the music.

2. There isn't a volume button. It is loud and your child's head is right near the speakers

Some people have given it a low rating because their child will stand on it. True, kids love to climb, but that isn't a defult of the toy - as with all toys, parents need to watch their child while playing.

It's definitely a fun toy, but I would rather get a version that does not have music.

Too loud and doesn't spin fast enough
This Sit n Spin definitely does not go as fast as the one we had as kids. Perhaps child safety issues have made the company slow down the rotation, but it's just not as fun. And the music, with neither volume control nor an on/off switch, is deafening and irritating, even to my four year-old son. Not worth it. Find an old one at a thrift store (without music) and save your money!
