The best truck, definitely worth the money
I bought this truck for my son a year ago. It's survived an 900 mile move, many falls off of tables and chairs, outside and inside play, getting washed over and over with all kinds of soap, being ridden on and stood on, shoved full of all kinds of trash, and who knows what other abuse. Out of all the toys my son has had in the past year (and he has quite a stash), nothing else gets played with every single day like this truck. Now that he's turning 3, I'm very excited to be able to buy him the other Bruder series trucks.

Trash Can Probs
Cute truck for my 2yr nephew. However as other reviewers indicated the green trash can is too deep and comes off as soon as the truck moves. The trash can and blocks used for trash eventually got thrown across the room in frustration by a normally content little boy. Since toddlers like to do everything themselves and their own way having a truck that will never work properly by design can prove to be a waste of money.

Bruder Roadmax Garbage Truck
I expect a new toy to come new. The top of the truck was scratched and the box was all torn up. For a $35 truck it should be brand new. I would not purchase from this toy store again, nor go through Amazon to source a product.

3yr old loves it- good, solid design
I spent many hours searching the web for the best garbage truck for my 3yr old son. Bruder has struck the right balance with the ROADMAX series- realistic design, and not too fragile. The other trucks I read about sounded too prone to break. We've had the ROADMAX for 2 days now, and my son loves it!

The good:
- A great design that is easy for a 3yr old to operate
- I can tell that it will last a while
- Good features: (1) the dumping action works good, especially if the "garbage" has some weight (e.g., paper is too light, but small wooden blocks work great),(2) the cab opens so you can put in a driver, and(3) its sturdy enough for him to practically sit and ride on it.
- Great indoor toy: dirt and sand will probably gunk-up the dumping mechanism.
- No electronic noises allows him to use his imagination more (and helps me keep my sanity)

The bad:
- The small red plastic flap on the back did come off once, but I easilly put it back on, and its not critical for it to operate anyway.

I highly recommend this truck. I like it so much I'm considering getting him some of the other ROADMAX vehicles.

2 Yr Old Loves It, But Needs People
I bought this garbage truck as a Christmas present for my 2 1/2 year old son. There has not been a single day in the 6 months since that he has not actively played with this toy. It is, by far, his favorite toy EVER!

It was kinda spendy for a plastic truck, but it is well built and, based on the hours of enjoyment, worth every penny.

The only drawbacks are:

(1) The truck really needs to come with some little plastic people to drive and load garbage. There is no ledge nor any handholds on the back of the truck for a figure to stand, and my son has been frustrated trying to get a figure from another set to hang on. (Having watched the garbage men come to our house, he is a real stickler for details.) The cab completely opens up easily from the top, but without a specially designed driver, my son usually just shoves a small plastic fireman in the space. It doesn't detract too much from his imagination; but, it would be nice if the truck came with the appropriate figures.

(2) The red plastic flap on the back of the truck came off pretty quickly, and has not been back on since. It isn't really necessary for play, and it actually makes it easier for my son to put "garbage" in and take stuff out.

(3) The green garbage bucket is probably the most frustrating part of the toy for my son; though, once again, it hasn't detracted too much from his enjoyment of the toy overall. The bucket is easy enough for an adult to slide onto the back; but, he has a little difficulty lining it up just right - particularly if the truck is on an uneven surface. Also, the moment the truck drives away, the bucket is left behind. In the real world, this is not an issue; but, for him, he would really like to drive the truck with the bucket hanging on. The bucket is just a little too deep, so that it drags the ground and slides off.

That's it for the drawbacks, as far as I can tell. Like I said before, my son absolutely loves this garbage truck and it has withstood hours of pretty tough play.
