User Submitted Bruder Toys Roadmax Garbage Truck Reviews (cont...)Date: 2005-05-23 2 Yr Old Loves It, But Needs People I bought this garbage truck as a Christmas present for my 2 1/2 year old son. There has not been a single day in the 6 months since that he has not actively played with this toy. It is, by far, his favorite toy EVER! It was kinda spendy for a plastic truck, but it is well built and, based on the hours of enjoyment, worth every penny. The only drawbacks are: (1) The truck really needs to come with some little plastic people to drive and load garbage. There is no ledge nor any handholds on the back of the truck for a figure to stand, and my son has been frustrated trying to get a figure from another set to hang on. (Having watched the garbage men come to our house, he is a real stickler for details.) The cab completely opens up easily from the top, but without a specially designed driver, my son usually just shoves a small plastic fireman in the space. It doesn't detract too much from his imagination; but, it would be nice if the truck came with the appropriate figures. (2) The red plastic flap on the back of the truck came off pretty quickly, and has not been back on since. It isn't really necessary for play, and it actually makes it easier for my son to put "garbage" in and take stuff out. (3) The green garbage bucket is probably the most frustrating part of the toy for my son; though, once again, it hasn't detracted too much from his enjoyment of the toy overall. The bucket is easy enough for an adult to slide onto the back; but, he has a little difficulty lining it up just right - particularly if the truck is on an uneven surface. Also, the moment the truck drives away, the bucket is left behind. In the real world, this is not an issue; but, for him, he would really like to drive the truck with the bucket hanging on. The bucket is just a little too deep, so that it drags the ground and slides off. That's it for the drawbacks, as far as I can tell. Like I said before, my son absolutely loves this garbage truck and it has withstood hours of pretty tough play. Date: 2005-02-16 Our twins toddlers each have one... And they LOVE them! It is great how the front compartment opens so they can put people inside. The back "bin" is not attached and that is REALLY frustrating to them! So, we taped it on, but it still falls off all the time. And be aware! This truck fits a LOT of "garbage" so every little toy your child owns will end up in it sooner or later! Date: 2005-01-14 shipping I ordered this item on December 11, 2004, and it has not yet been delivered (January 14, 2005). Never have a gotten a more circular runaround from a company as I have from Amazon. The people I have talked to have lied to me ("Believe me, this is going to be shipped out by the end of the week"), have told me they have solved the problem ("just needed to be billed to your credit card company"), told me it was the distribution center's fault but there was no way I could get in touch with the distribution center. Date: 2005-01-05 Lynne Miranda My son loves to play with his Garbage truck, But it is NOT WORTH the MONEY!!!!!. For the amount you paid for it, it should have been electronic. Date: 2004-12-26 Not for outdoor use! If you are thinking about letting your child use this truck outside, then buyer beware...do NOT purchase. My son took this truck out to his sandbox and within 5 min. all the various parts were jammed and unable to operate. We cleaned it up and let him play with it in the mulch only, and the same thing pretty much happened. It is strickly an indoor toy and cannot handle dirt getting into its working parts.
