Unbeatable value
I'm not much for writing reviews, so I'll keep this one brief: these speakers are AWESOME! They will easily fill an entire room, apartment, or even small house with clean, powerful goodness. I've had mine over 6 years, in four different locations- I think they are worth at least double the price. Buy them, they will not disappoint you.

Sounds natural and warm, with some power
If you want great sound from your computer, don't hesitate and buy this unit now. I say this because I'm very familiar with good sounding stereos. In my past life, I used to fix them. The best speakers I've ever heard in my life are the Bang and Olufsen Penta tower speakers. They are as close to aural heaven as you can get. And like this system, you should buy it if you can. But, if you buy the Penta used, make sure you take it to a repair shop and have the pots in the amps replaced.

Now to this system. It is not a tower B&O. But, it is the best computer speaker system I've ever heard, and I've heard a lot of them. The speakers sound very natural and the base is not boomy like a Logitech, but a rolling smooth base. It really does go down to about 30Hz. Loose fixtures in your room will rattle. This, while the sound emitting from the satellites sound quite natural. You don't feel like the speakers are going to overpower you. Your ears don't get tired while listening to them. They sound natural at both low and high volumes. I'm really impressed with this unit. No unit is perfect, but for a hundred and fifty dollars, this is as close as you can get. Below are some things you might watch out for if you're really picky about them:

1) The highs are very good. But they are not the sizzling high you get from a Bose system. But the Bose has no mid-range, and your ears get tired from being zapped by the highs all the time. The highs in this unit is high enough without irritating your ears.

2) The DIN connector to the amp/sub-woofer is small and can be damaged if tugged at too hard. This is noted extensively elsewhere.

3) I wish they had used wooden enclosures for the satellites instead of plastic. The sound would be even more natural. There are no air holes in the satellites, so the enclosure will vibrate resonantly. But, a plastic resonance is not as nice as a wooden resonance. I guess this is too much to ask for at this price range.

4) The angle of the satellites point a little high so that the sound is not directional to your ears when you sit at a desk. (I actually prefer this)

5) I've actually listened to a few of these units. Be careful of two things. If you buy it used, the cones can be loose and the sound not as vibrant. You can test this by gently pushing on the cones. If they feel really loose from 0-.5", you've got a used one. The sound may be more muddled than a new one. On the other hand, I've tested a new one where the sound seems a little too pushy. It seems to be trying hard to attack you with its sound. Some might like that. But, as many audiophiles might tell you, speakers need a slight break-in period anyway. They will loosen up and become more compliant and sound a little more natural as time goes along.

In summary, this is a nice unit. Do your ears a favor and buy it if you can. In the hundred to a hundred and fifty dollar range, you can't go wrong.

Dont waste your money on any thing but this!
I have gone through too many speaker systems claiming "their the best". With these guys,no fuss,no mess ,just plug it in and listen
to the best sounds you will ever hear! Just amazing! You gamers will love the sound it pumps out. You music buffs that are downloading everything,it handles every song with ease and gives you the highs
and the lows, with its 11 pound woofer. My neighbors thought I had my stereo on. They told me to turn it down. And dont worry about it lasting, the is the second pair in 10 year and I gave my old ones to my sister and they still kick for her! Dont be swayed with imitation speakers,THESE ARE IT! They may be hard to find at your usual "speaker stores". Amazon is very good about their prices and they will get to your house in a hurry. Listen to the best!

Amazing difference and presence.
I just recently sold my $250 bose 2.1 companion 3 series setup I had been using for my computer (and thus all my music and movies) for the last year for $150. I sold it so I could pick up the Klipsch Promedia 2.1 system, it looked much beefier and had 200watts behind (even though Bose doesn't state their wattage and I could clearly tell this was much powerful). I was hesitant though because even though Bose stuff is a lot spendier, I wondered if i'd be settling for a cheaper downgrade.

I got a chance to test out the system with a few rock songs then watch my 2001:A Space Odyssey blu-ray.

Wow.

The difference was far from subtle, the two horn tweeters and larger mid-range speakers have a serious presense. The soundstage and projection is really amazing and pretty neutral (if maybe a bit recessed, but then again the bose system was more sharp and less full-ranged, dynamic). The horn tweeter makes a huge difference in the highs and overall sound presentation.

I haven't got a chance to blast it yet, but I can tell it's much louder and has a substantially better low end (The Bose system had a good low end, but was a bit more on the mid-range side then I thought after hearing how well balanced this is.)
So, I just wanted to say this is a superior 2.1 solution and an excellent value, fairly neutral and well balanced system that feels more like a home theater then a computer stereo. Less then 24 hours with this system was enough to make me regret one year with the Bose.

The best 2.1 system you will ever own!
I have to say that [...] bucks is alot to spend on some computer speakers. After I heard them at home I was stunned for words to describe how the audio draws you into the games amd movies. I actually bought a second set of these when I was deployed to Iraq and if one of the guys in my unit hadnt plugged them into a 220V outlet I would still be enjoying them. These are 110V ONLY!!! Other than that, these speakers are very well built, easy to clean, and easy to set up. The mic jack is great for plugging in your ipod without firing up your pc... I have used these as TV speakers as well, since I dont have a receiver and amp...they did great there too.

Buy these you will not regret it.
