Just Okay
I read the other reviews about these sound puzzles but I figured I'd still give them a try. The pictures are great, but the sounds are totally weird and are a little scary, the zebra in particular is awful. These puzzles are definitely light sensitive so we found that we couldn't leave them in our sons room b/c as the sun came in and out of the clouds or set for the evening and rose in the morning they would randomly start making all of their lovely animals noises, a little weird. They couldn't make the puzzle so that the corresponding pieces were the only thing that makes the noise activate?? Okay toy, but nothing great.

Fun and easy puzzle for a toddler
My kids adore all of their Melissa and Doug puzzles and we love that they are challenging, yet easy to use. Tip: make sure to put all the pieces back in after each use. Every night when we turn out the lights we have a virtual concert of barks and monkey noises, but it is fun. We tell the animals good night after we identify the sounds with the kids.

Maybe if she actually played with it ...
My 2 y.o. was going through a puzzle phase, so we got this for her as a Christmas present. It's about 6 months later, and I don't think she's touched it aside from when she opened it Christmas morning or at any time that she decides to play with another puzzle and has to knock this one aside to get to it.

I don't know why it doesn't engage her, not that I'm all that brokenhearted either. The sound is a little tinny, so the animal calls don't carry an air of authenticity.

I will say that it doesn't eat batteries, as it's extremely sensitive to light, and anytime it's been left with a piece out of it overnight, I do believe it chirps and chatters all night long ... possibly some jungle version of "play with me, please." But alas, in this house, no one's listening.

Very Entertaining
The puzzle is very entertaining for a kid who is over one yr old. My Son plays with it often trying to match the animals with other animal toys he has. Only negative is that you can't switch it off and if you loose/misplace one then you have to keep hearing the sound again and again.

For adults too
The sound part add extra stimulation and promotes some 'discussion'. A very good item at a good price
