Our son loves this! Holds interest and prompts movement.
We introduced this toy to our son at 3 or 4 months and he was immediately intrigued by the colors and sounds. Even before he could crawl, he would reach for it and push the buttons. He learned that when he did this, he could feel the ball's vibrations.
He started crawling at 5 months and immediately starting following this thing around.
He is now 7 months and still enjoys this toy. It holds his interest for a relatively long time.
I can't say much for the educational value. Our son is too young to understand what it asks him to do; same with other babies learning to crawl. Also, the animals are not realistic so even if he could "find the cow", he wouldn't know it was purple and green.
Also, this ball doesn't go far on the carpet. It does much better on the tile or hardwood.
Overall, our baby has spent tons of time playing with this over the past few months, so I think it's definitely worth $20 or so.

Dog toy
I have no idea how much babies think of this toy, but I can tell you it is a GREAT toy for a Malamute! Zeevie chased this thing all over the house, swatting it, slamming it into walls, and picking it up and dropping it. It just keeps on working despite the abuse! This thing is way better than a kibble ball!

Great toy!!
My son received this toy last Christmas from his aunt. He loved it then, and still loves it now, and he is almost two. He uses it more now than ever, as he has figured out how to make the buttons work and even can turn it on and off. I would definitely recommend this for any child.

Not as annoying as it looks
My mom bought this for my son when he was 6 months old. I immediately thought that it was one of those annoying, loud, obnoxious toys that never shuts up. I was pleasantly surprised. It is actually only noisy when my son is playing with it. Also, there is an off switch and two volume settings. My son was on the verge of crawling (he'd been creeping and rocking on his knees for a while) when he received this. I believe this toy gave him the added incentive to crawl. It didn't go far on the carpet so he was able to catch it, eventually. It gave him a goal to reach. Now that he crawls like a pro, he has fun pushing the buttons and is fascinated by the music and flashing lights. At 10 months, he still enjoys playing with it. One word of caution, however. It is rather heavy for a toy and will hurt if it is dropped on the foot, etc.

Mother of Twins
I bought this for my sons when they were only a few months old. At first I was concerned that they did not appear interested it the item. Now at 10 months it is a must whenever we visit people. They love to sit with it on the carpet and push the buttons or chase it around the hardwood floors. I only wish the colors used for the animals were more realistic. I've never seen puppy with blue spots before and as an educational toy I wish they would stay truer to reality.
