Great Buy
The Big Tex Holster Set was really great. The product is very sturdy and has great weight and construction. The holster set is a little big for smaller kids, but adjustable and it is nice that is will fit for a long time. I suppose it is not really educational so I hate to give it any bad grades, but my son loves to play Woody and Cowboy in general and it fits in with all the other dress-up pretend play stuff we have. I was really pleased with the quality as he is "boy-tough" on toys and most discount toys do not hold up to real play.

Looks great but plastic part inside broke quickly
We bought this becuase it looked like it was all metal, however there is a small plastic part inside that broke rather quickly causing the gun not to stay shut.

Great gun, decent holster, cheap belt.
We couldn't find a gun with a holster locally so we bought this online. The gun itself is great. It looks great, is heavy and seems like a quality gun that will last a while. We did not buy caps yet so I can't say whether or not it fires well, but my son enjoys "shooting" it just the same. He's 6. The holster is just plastic, I think, but is adequate. The belt is just plain cheap and the buckle does not secure well. It did not look like the one pictured online. We swapped it out with my son's regular leather belt and that works much better.

Well worth the price - well built, consistent firing gun.
This item was purchased to assist in gun breaking my upland bird pointing dogs. I wanted a gun that was relaible in both sound and performance. This was by far the best in both catergories out of 5 cap gun models purchased. I've fired it ~100 times without a misfire. The caps are louder then roll caps and other plastic ring caps. I purchased two of these guns and filled one of their hollow cylinders with model rocket parachute packing tissue for when the gun is first introduced with soft dogs.

There are a few down sides to the gun. There is no self ejector for the ring cap. After firing it gets rather jammed in the cylinder and requires a pocket knife to extract. Care needs to be taken that it doesn't break open when pulled from the holster. And lastly the holster doesn't have a trigger strap to prevent it falling out while moving about the field. [...].

Best I have seen lately!
I grew up at the end of the good cap guns. This one is at least that good maybe better. I wish that the latch that holds the break-open frame together was also metal, but it is very thick plastic and seems durable. The plastic grips are nice and the holster is not bad either. I have had Parris cap guns before and they always outlasted any other brand. I am very, very happy with this set, even if I do have to put up with the orange end cap.
