Hunk of junk - two devices stopped working in less than 3 days
I bought the Leapster L-Max for my son who is 6 yo. He loves it. Literally will not put it down. The first one we got just stopped turning on after 1 1/2 days use. Thought it was dead batteries but it wasn't the issue. It was not dropped or abused in anyway. My son is very careful with his toys and b/c he loves this one so he was especially careful. Returned to TRU and exchanged a new one. He has used it for about 1/2 a day and then we tried to plug it into the TV. Couldn't get that to work properly. So he tried to go back and use it as a hand held, and now the volume won't work. No sound. I got a pair of headphones for him to use until I can return this piece of junk. I guess we'll just get the regular Leapster and give that one try. I'm appalled at the poor quality of this toy. What a waste of money and time. If my son didn't absolutely love this, I would return it and be done with it.

L-Max
Both my son & daughter have the Leapster L-Max. They both love their games & it keeps them busy in long car rides.

Love this product!
I bought this for my daughter last year for xmas, when she was 3 (now 4) and hasn't put it down since. I read a few reviews how the product didn't last very long, well, that is not the case here. Its still great as ever. My daughter has dropped it a million times and it still works. We only have 3 games but she never gets bored with it. I"m going to buy her I SPY this year. It keeps her entertained, educational, durable, car friendly, and its really cute!

Well worth the $$$!
We have 3 boys, ages 3, 5, and 7. We were trying to hold out on video games since it will probably be inevitable at some point, but this Leapster is not your typical video game. They are learning a lot and are most definitely using their brains while they're playing. We have a few games, some letter/word ones as well as math. And they all love to play with it- it was very easy for them to just pick up and start playing. Even the 3-yr old. It goes through batteries pretty quickly, but we use an old portable DVD player car adapter cord with it in the car now and the same player's regular power cord if we use it in the house, so batteries are not an issue anymore! Highly recommend this product.

Leapfrog replaced it free, no questions asked AFTER the warranty had expired!
We purchased an LMAX for our five year old for Christmas, and she loved it. It worked wonderfully for the first 5 months or so, then the screen just went- you could hear the game going, but the screen was blank. We put in a call to Leapfrog, they told us to send it in. We did, and exactly 1 week later, went outside and tripped over a brand new one in a box on our front step. To top it off, the new one had a screen cover on it, whereas ours hadn't had one. We were so impressed. The warranty was only supposed to be 90 days, we were well past that, and the turn-around time was amazing. The customer service was impeccable. I strongly recommend this product for many reasons (oh, and if you look up leapfrog coupon codes on google, I'd be willing to bet you'll find one that will make it worth your time! ;) )
