Great toy, but...
I love this toy egg. It appears to be great quality, being metal and cotton cloth, and not plastic. However, we were just given this gift 2 days ago and the white paint is already chipping off the egg's shell. Not too much of a problem for my 2 1/2 year old, but now I reallly have to make sure my 10 month old stays away from it.
Too bad. Still gave it 4 stars because it is such a great toy and a wonderful addition to any toy kitchen.

Not all it's cracked up to be.
I bought two of these for my niece's birthday. The idea of cracking an egg and opening it are great, but the metal egg is hard to open without throwing it down (which dents it permanently). The cloth egg doesnt fall out of the egg very well, either. My niece still played with it alot and I know overall, she will use it over and over again.

My 20-month nephew loves this toy!
It is about the size a real, medium size egg. I wish that I had bought more than one, (it would have been cute to have a dozen in a carton) but the price was too expensive. As for durability, the felt "egg" is going to get dirty and I'm not sure if it is washable. I gave a low educational rating because I'm not sure what a child could be learning from this. But, it does look like a real egg. I bought it for him to enjoy and he defiantly does! Still, because of the price, I don't think I'd buy another.

Pricey but neat
My only problem with this toy is the cost but it is an adorable concept and my 19 month old daughter plays with it alot. I think she'll really love it when she's older.

Realistic eggs for the play kitchen
This toy promotes imagination in your child's "kitchen". These cloth sunny side eggs come out of their metal painted shells and look like the real thing. They are so well made! A child can easily refold the cloth egg and put it back in the shells for a replay of the simulation of cracking an egg open to make a recipe or fry an egg. No cheap little platic parts here. HABA makes really well-made toys - like they used to make years ago. I purchased 3 of these and my daughter loves them for her play kitchen.
