Loads of fun!
I bought this for my 11 year old daughter for Christmas after she came back from a museum with her class last year and raved about this same type of thing there. I also bought it for my 9 year old triplet nieces/nephew. It was a huge hit! Make sure to use it in a dark place (they have been using the bathroom which works great!) and "charge" the screen under a light first. The kids use it on their own and when friends come over. Endless fun!

Lots of fun in the dark
My 4 year old daughter got this for Christmas. She wasn't very impressed and neither were my 4 year old niece and nephew, but my 7 year old son is captivated. I'm suitably impressed with it myself.

ASSEMBLY

Assembly was simple and easy. Instructions were straightforward. Put the sticks through the panel and hang it up in a dark room.

PLAY

It's so easy. Just place objects or body parts next to the screen and flash the light. The shadow appears instantly. To erase, just give it time (it'll take a few minutes) or flash the light on the shadow to erase more immediately.

There's also a drawing feature. The kids can shine a light on the surface and draw on their shadow or create other interesting designs.

SUMMARY

This obviously isn't for every kid, but for kids who "get it," it can be a blast. Might be a great idea for a slumber party.

Total disappointment
This toy flat out doesn't work. The kids had to practically press themselves against the screen to get any image at all. The photos on the package are gross exaggerations. Don't buy this toy.

Childhood fun time relived
We all know that our children always seem to want a standard list of toys at different ages, so I always like to get some gifts no on their list as well. I found this item while going through a search and was really excited because a location a museum in my town use to have a wall that did the same thing in their building and it was a lot of fun.

Although it's not Christmas yet (and we haven't given it to our 5 year old son) we did take it out of the box to try out and we couldn't just stop at one test. It was fun making shadows of each other.

The Shadows are fun to create and the pen can be fun to draw with on the shadows. I know our son will be looking for a lot of objects to shadow with it. The down side is that you have to be really close to the object to get a good shadow, the pen light over-powers the shadow on the page so it makes it next to impossible to actually draw the image, and it will take some teaching of "don't look at the light".

Beyond that I really do like this product and can't wait to give it to him. QVC had it for $30 and I was going to pay that until I found it on Amazon for nearly 50% the price.

Better than expected... way fun for adults and kids!!!
So, this shadow magic thing has been kicking around the house for a while, and we finally decided to open it and try it out. I guess I didn't expect much. It has been so much fun. You have to make sure you hold the flash pen right and read the directions so you get awesome shadows. All 4 of my kids and my husband and I played it. It's well worth the money!! I hear the kids fighting over it right now. Should have bought a couple of them!
