User Submitted Fascinations Levitron Self Starter ReviewsDate: 2008-10-04 Handy to have and works fine. I sometimes have trouble spinning the Levitron top cleanly on my own and this little gizmo does the trick. It also prevents hand fatigue when I'm spinning up the top repeatedly while adjusting the weight. The key to using this starter is to have a fresh alkaline battery installed; otherwise, it won't spin the top fast enough. It is also important not to push down on the top because that will also slow down the speed. There is a screw that is intended to hold the battery cover in place, which potentially makes changing the battery a pain. I just removed the screw permanently. The cover stays in place with friction (at least on mine) and battery changing is then easy. I bought this starter with my Super Levitron and Perpetuator over seven years ago. I have never had to replace the starter nor have I had any problems with it. Use a light touch and a fresh battery and you'll get a perfect spin every time. What more can you ask for four dollars? Date: 2007-08-08 Not so much I had high hopes for this thing but it's cheaply made, it's noisy (at least in the office cube), and worst of all it doesn't accelerate the top well. I've used it 3 times and that's it. Not recommended. Better off just spinning the thing yourself...
