It was a gift to be delievered to my 7 year old Grand daughter. Never arrived ! Repeated inquiries produced nothing! Does anybody even read these reviews????? I read reviews of other pottery wheels out there and decided to spend the extra money on this one because the other reviews said to buy one that is durable and that has a good motor, otherwise your kid will become to frustrated and will never play with it. This wheel is well worth the money. Coincidentally, my other daughter (age 12) got a different brand pottery wheel from a relative for that same Christmas, and she barely plays with hers because the motor is too whimpy. Date: 2008-01-08 nice affordable pottery wheel for kids It does what it claims. The instructions are very good! With a little patience your child will make something the first time using it. We bought it on sale for $59 and IT IS worth the money. If you are seriously considering a pottery wheel for your child (my daughter is 10) don't buy anything less quality then this. The cheap ones I saw ($18 - $25) in the Hobby Shops were a joke! Date: 2007-12-26 Fabulous, AMAZING, Great Use of Hard-Earned Money!!! We just opened this toy yesterday (Christmas Day) and set it up for our daughter this morning. She is six year's old but mature for her age, and she is a true budding artist! She's wanted a pottery wheel and I considered an adult model but decided to try this one after reading reviews and doing research. I'm so happy that I bought this one. Plenty of power but not too much. I have some basic technique knowledge so was able to teach her a little to get her started. A parent could locate a local school or artist where they can take their child just to learn some very basic skills, but this is also fun just for experimental play. Great instruction manual and informational guide helps parents to teach as well. There are bowl forms and centering tools with the wheel so that the young beginner can learn to use their hands to form the clay wihout the risk of getting it off center suddenly and becoming frustrated. These tools will keep her interest as she develops the mind/body element of pottery. This is perhaps the best purchase we've made for her -- EVER. Quality all the way, with things really well thought out for little ones. We have a studio/laundry room where we do all kinds of sewing, arts and crafts, and now the pottery wheel is there. Right next to the utility sink which is very helpful because warm water is essential to successful work with clay. Be sure to buy the large box of crayola air-dry clay to accompany this pottery wheel because you'll need it. Even my husband is having a blast taking turns with her. Working with clay on a pottery wheel is possibly one of the most relaxing and restful activities there is. It makes us really happy to share this experience with our child. Merry Christmas and Happy 2008! Date: 2007-01-09 Suprising power I purchased this pottery wheel for my daughter for christmas after reviewing several other pottery wheels. I choose this one because it came with its own stand and had the best positive reviews. It was easy to assemble, my 8 year old put it together. It has two speeds and she really seemed to get the hang of throwing pottery quick. For a small wheel, it's perfect for a beginner. We're very happy with this product.
