User Submitted Alex Toys Sew Fun ReviewsDate: 2009-01-02 Does Not Work My daughter was very excited at the thought of her own sewing machine. She quickly took to making the tote bag. I sewed a little in high school, and my mother sewed at home. It took a little time to get the top thread to get the bottom thread. The difficulties began as soon as we tried to make the 1st stitch. The needle jammed as it descended to the bottom bobbin. I attempted to begin again many times before I decided not to proceed further. I will return to the store I purchased, as we had just opened it and I retained the exterior packaging. Date: 2008-12-31 Disappointed It doesn't work!!! My grandmother has been sewing her whole life and she couldn't get this machine to work. My daughter is so, so disappointed! Date: 2008-12-27 Love it! Santa just brought this for my six year old, mature, divaesque, total girl daughter who loves creative toys. We just did the hand bag and she absolutely loved it. It is definitely a mommy-daughter toy, but what a great way to spend quality time. Its made quite well, not cheap and flimsy at all. My only complaint is no light. I would highly recommend this for any little girly girl! Date: 2008-12-06 Great even for older people! I love it! I'm 21 and I bought it for myself because I liked that it seemed easy to use (if they expect an 8 year old to be able to do it, why not me?), I didn't feel like trying to figure out how to use mom's sewing machine with the complicated instruction book... this machine is so simple and easy to use, my only thing I don't like is that it doesn't sew backwards so you have to tie it off at the ends. and my foot petal won't work after only a couple times of using it, and the machine gets stuck a lot. but I find if I just use the button to make it sew, it works much better. great for beginners! Date: 2008-11-03 Great idea - but broke fast I really loved this product in theory, and the 4 times my daughter used it, it worked wonderfully! She loved to sew, and I though we had bought a winner! But when we attempted to change the bobbin thread, the machine would not pick up the bottom thread, even though we followed the instructions to the letter! I sent 4 e-mail to the manufacturer with no response and I'm taking the machine to my local repair shop to see if they can determine the problem with it! Too bad, I really wanted this to be the great toy it had the potential to be.
