He loves picking up the pieces by the large knobs as they fit perfectly in his little hands. I would recommend this to any parent. Good product for the price. Date: 2008-01-07 Great Choice! I love this puzzle. It is all wood and very durable and sturdy. My 10-month-old is really into farm animals and we have fun identifying the different animals and making the animal noises. He doesn't yet "put the puzzle together," but has fun taking it apart and playing with the different pieces. I have even caught him chewing on some of them and the paint hasn't shown any signs of wear. It is a great first puzzle for little guys. Great choice! Date: 2007-12-11 Wood back almost instantly peeled My daughter (13 months) received this toy as a present and really loved playing with it. It's very educational and I loved the wood structure of it. But in just a couple of days the back of the main wood frame started peeling leaving raw edges on the surface and sides. Just what you would need to get a splinter. So now we don't use the board any more. But my daughter still continues to play with the removable pieces. Date: 2007-12-09 Wonderful puzzle! My son got this puzzle for his 1st birthday and took to it right away. The knobs are so much easier for little hands to manipulate and the farm animals are excellent to practice making animal sounds like moo and baa. Highly recommend this item for a first puzzle and all Melissa & Doug items as well! Date: 2007-11-16 Great Starter Puzzle I bought this for my daughter when she was 7mos old. She loves it...the large knobs make it easy for young babies to pick up and manipulate the shapes. She hasn't quite figured out how to put the pieces back, she has however, learned to use the pieces as musical, banging instruments! I love the quality of this product and plan to purchase more of Melissa and Doug products.
