User Submitted LEGO 4+ Basic Bulk Set ReviewsDate: 2008-10-23 Back to the basics When I told my older son's I was getting this for my 8 year old, they thought I should get one of the new Lego sets, you know like star wars... I can remember spending hours upon hours with my Lego's when I was a kid. We didn't have no 'sets'. We used our imagination. Not many toys let you do this today. So I went ahead and got this for my son who has everything and he hasn't stopped playing with them yet. He spends hours putting together his own little Lego men (armies) and builds his little Lego tanks, planes and ships and battles all day. Sure, this isn't one of the fancy sets. You know, the kind kids play with and then stick on a shelf when they have completed it. You never complete this set. I continues on as long as you have imagination. While, I am not putting down the sets. I just think toy manufactures have run out of ideas. But hey, lets get back to the basics and let our kids grow. This was one of the best gifts I have ever gotten my son and he has already used more than any other (except his gaming systems). Oh, and my older sons... They can't keep their hands off of them. You can't go wrong with this one. Date: 2008-08-05 Love this set, love the seller even more I ordered this lego set for my son's 4th birthday. It arrived, I hid it and promptly forgot where it was. Kaplan (the seller) was SO nice when I reported (in error) that I hadn't rec'd the package. Kaplan has the BEST customer service, they replied immediately to my email, they called me personally, they shipped another set immediately. When I realized my mistake they could not have been more gracious. I will recommend Kaplan to all my friends who have kids. My son loves the set, it's more Lego's than he can handle! Unless you drive it around on the rear window shelf of your car or build your house on the burner of your stove it will keep its shape forever and you can hand it down to your own kids after years of creative building. Annette Date: 2008-07-18 Good enough for my great-nephew Finally, I found a gift for my eight-year-old great-nephew that he completely loves! The big pile of legos you see in the sales picture actually comes in many separate packages encased in a big plastic box with lid. I didn't know the plates come separate, but luckily he had some from another, much smaller box of legos he already had on hand. (If this is your first Legos purchase, you need to get some plates, necessary for stabilizing the created structures.) I dropped off the box at 8 in the morning. When I returned at 1 pm, he had made two incredible structures with two of the plates. They were creative and aesthetic. I had no idea what could be done with legos. The limit is one's imagination, and legos challenge that. The fact that these legos do not come in pre-packaged creations (Star Wars themed figures, for example) make this box require the use of the mind and imagination, dexterity and coordination. I was impressed with what my nephew could do and will do. Legos of the non-structured form come highly recommended! Just don't forget plates! Date: 2008-06-14 Excellent set This set comes in a nice plastic box and has a lot of basic bricks which are actually usable. The pieces seems to be very durable and are in nice combination of colors and sizes. just love them
