User Submitted Melissa & Doug Deluxe Wooden 27-Piece Lacing Beads in a Box ReviewsDate: 2009-01-01 my 2 year old not interested at all With all the great reviews I thought my 2 year old would be interested in this, but it hasn't yet captured her attention. I suppose everyone has their own interests, this just isn't one of hers. Maybe when she's older. I have also noticed the paint coming off the edges, and they are barely used. Date: 2008-12-28 Awesome!! Educational, durable, safe, fun, what more could you ask for? Great bright colors, perfect size holes for my 3 year old to lace. Big enough pieces for our 6 month old to play along with. Stores great in the wooden box it comes in. We LOVE Melissa and Doug products!!! Date: 2008-12-28 Great toy My girls got the wooden blocks and lacing beads for Christmas. It's great for hand-eye coordination and good, quiet activity. My girls are about 2 1/2 so aren't able to lace the beads by themselves, but a perfect gift for them to grow into. Date: 2008-12-26 Stringing beads Got this for our 2 year old grandson. He loved it right away. The bright beads caught his attention and he started mastering the fine motor skill of stringing the beads right away. He stayed at it for quite a while and was so pleased with his success. The beads are all wood and painted so cheery and bright. This will last a long time, and be fun to play with for him for quite a while. Date: 2008-10-18 Not much interest I bought this for my 33-month old son as his first introduction to lacing and I must say that I'm slightly disappointed. However, I think that if your child has already done some lacing in the past, then this would be more enjoyable for the child. I have bought some lacing cards for him, and he seems to enjoy those more. I'm going to pull out this toy after a couple of months, and then update my review. I think that this toy would encourage creativity in kids but may not be of much educational value, if they already know their shapes, numbers and colors. However, for an older child, say 4-5 years of age, I think the toy would help to reinforce some math concepts. I can see how it would be fun lacing the beads. I had a 4-yr old boy visit us and he seemed to like it, so age does matter.
