User Submitted Melissa & Doug Classic Heirloom Victorian Doll House Reviews (cont...)Date: 2008-05-22 This is a beautiful dollhouse for the price! I love that it's decorated already! It went together in about an hour. The directions were easy to follow and I did it with no help (unless you count my 9 and 6 year olds). The furniture is really nice, too! Date: 2008-05-10 Nice house, big, real looking, limited space and doll compatibility This was an expensive investment. After assembled it gathered friends for a long time, just to look at it. It is without doubt a nice looking house. Paper laminate over particle press paper board. They call it press wood, but it's not really wood. Nevertheless it's sturdy. The roof and the stairs are real ply wood. The positive side of this is that's it's absolutely breathtaking how it's so real. I stay sometimes to arrange furniture and make everything neat as if it was my home. The negative sides are the following. Sometimes, like in the kitchen, there's too much furniture and too little space. It all fits however, little tight but fits. The dolls that look semi good with this house are the Polly pocket dolls an the little bratz. All of the accessories also can be used in this house. It's surprising how there is no special doll set that is not stuffed dolls that they manufacture with this house. Oh well, the pollies and the bratz work just fine. My kids play with this a good amount of time. And friends almost all the time play with this. I bought it for my 8 year old, but my 11 year old was the one who got really fascinated with it. I'd say a small child won't appreciate the beauty of it, but that's just my opinion. Furniture, as expensive as it is, is beautiful and sturdy, nothing broken yet. We had to glue up one windowsill before assembly that got unglued from the house, but that was just one thing. They ship it in a sturdy box and there are boxes inside with separate parts wrapped in squishy poly wrap. All in all it's good value for the money and will last the kids all through the teens. It's a cool interior decor item later. You'll need a coffee table for this thing to sit on. Date: 2008-02-03 Warning! Major Assembly Required This is a very nice doll house and my daughter enjoys it. However, I would not recommend to those who are not up for a multi - hour assembly project. The instructions are 35 pages (8.5 X 11) and assembly requires 50+ screws. Within my package, two pieces were not appropriately drilled with holes (this was not a problem as I have a power drill and the right sized bit). J. Date: 2008-01-12 Beautiful Dollhouse This is such a beautiful dollhouse we have left it in the livingroom well after Christmas because it's so pretty sitting there. There isn't a child that comes in that doesn't run over to it immediately. It comes needing assembly but the directions are clear and it took me about an hour with no problems. We haven't had it for very long so I can't say how many years it will last but it feels very sturdy and durable. I love to play with this as much as the kids do! I got it for my five-year-old but younger kids seem to like it a lot and also my 8-year-old and her friends play with it. Date: 2008-01-08 Perfect Dollhouse Bought this for my little girl for Christmas and couldn't be happier. I love that it is a realistic wooden dollhouse. It fits Fisher Price loving family dolls and furniture. Only drawback is that it was a little tough to assemble because some of the holes for the screws were either drilled in the wrong space or in one case not drilled at all. But my daughter loves it, and even my son likes to play with it.
