User Submitted Intex 2500 Gallon Filter Pump ReviewsDate: 2008-09-14 Replacing and Upgrading Pool Pump When the 1500 gph pump on our 18' above ground pool went out we replaced it with a 2500 gph pump for only a few more dollars than the original 1500 gph pump. There is a significent improvement in filtering. We were also pleasantaly surprised to find that new hoses and valves were included. At approx $100 for pump and shipping, this was a great bargain. Date: 2008-09-06 Great Pump at a Great Price After a few years, the smaller pump that came with my 18' Intex metal framed pool stopped working. I was tired of cleaning these smaller filters most everyday I must say. I researched pumps and it was just a little more to upsize to this pump and it had a larger filter, so I ordered it. Since I had the connector hoses and skimmer already hooked up, installation was a breeze. When I turned on the pump I was blown away with how much water this pump moved. It was almost too much water movement for my 18' round pool, but I definitely will take too much power over not enough any day. Also, as is common with these paper filters they get clogged up with bugs, dirt, hair, suntan loition, etc, so the water flow will slow down. When I used to clean my filter every day, now I just have to do it about 1 or twice a week and my filter has lasted a month now. This alone is worth the money in my opinion to upgrade to this pump. It is too bad that Intex doesn't include this pump in their larger pools. One thing to keep in mind with this pump though is tnat it does not come with a skimmer and only a plastic screened cap for the intake. All in all I highly recommend this 2500 GPH pump for those who are frustrated with the smaller pumps or as a replacement pump for an intex pool. Date: 2008-09-05 Intex 2500 gal/hr Water Filtration Pump I purchased this pump because the one that came with the pool did not last even one year. I used the 1500 gal per/hr for only 3 months the summer of 2007. When I went to use it this year the 1500 did not work. I was able to fix it only after I learned about the B.S. one year Warrenty. I also learned that the pool is designed to last about 5 to 8 years. I needed a new pump. So I went to the internet to try to find a better product then cam across the 2500 gal per/hr unit. I do like it and it pulls hard. The type "B" filter is nice and you can re-use the filter for a couple of times because you can take a high pressure hose and clean out the channels within the filter. Cleaning the pool with the vacumme kit is faster because of the higher presure the pump gives. Sand is still hard to get off the bottom of the pool but does work way better. Over all at this point (6 weeks of use now) I think it is a good buy. I plan to take down the pool in 4 weeks. I only hope the filter/pump will work again come next spring when I set it up again. Kind of worried because of what happend when I tried to use the 1500 this summer. Good luck and have a good swim in clean water. Date: 2008-08-28 Excellent Pool Filter We have been very happy with our new pool filter. The one that came with the pool had stopped working, and in my opinion was underpowered to begin with for this size pool (18' diameter X 4' Height). Rather than go through the warrantee process, I chose to purchase this more powerful filter and it has made a huge difference! The pool is cleaner than ever, and we are extremely happy. Service by the vendor was fine but the ground delivery took longer than expected. (Note: we also bought the Intex Salt Water system and will never go back to regular pool chemicals! It's not only cheaper and easier to maintain, the water feels much better and we don't have the discomfort from the chlorine treatments, eye irritation, etc.) Date: 2008-07-30 A great replacement pump the pump that came with my 18' pool died after 2 years, so I needed a replacement. I was torn between this unit and the 1500 unit, but for the extra $15-10 bucks, I went with the stronger unit, which was a wise choice. This pump has a lot of pressure and does a great job at cleaning the pool. When running, it does not sound cheap like the pump that come with the pool originally. I was concerned with connections, since my pool is not Intex, but all worked out fine. I would highly recommend it.
