Purchased as part of a gift.
I purchased the Barbie Mariposa Magic Wings Mariposa Doll as part of my Granddaughters birthday gift. I also purchased the dvd of the same subject and she loved the doll and the movie.

A real knockout of a doll
I purchased this doll for my gtandddaughter , to actually go along with the Mariposa DVD . She loves the doll so much she just likes looking at it, its so beautifull she tells me, she says she'll play with it eventually , but I think she can't bring herself to roughhouse with this doll its so unusual and unique!

Better for adult collectors than kids..
Hi there!
Well I personally as an adult doll collector fell head first in love with this doll line the moment I saw the first add. As a collector and not someone that plays with the thing all the time I can't really say about weather or not the wings come flying off. Mine have stayed on really well and it seems to be a pretty solid little doll. Then again I'm not a hyper five year old so that might put more stress on it than just the occasional re-arangement. As for the other features on the doll, She's slightly smaller than a regular barbie, and has a different styling to her that I find appealing. The glitter on Her wings stays on surpringly well, I have had some barbies with glitter on them that leave you covered in the stuff. The wings are almost the same size as the "mermadia" Elina's wings were and might make finding a spot for the both of them on one shelf kind of challenging. One other thing that I did find interesting about this doll and from my knowlege as a collector I know that in years to come this will add to her value, is the fact that she is one of the few barbies I have ever seen with brown eyes. Typically they have blue or blueish green eyes.
So over all its a nice doll, with some unique features and some interesting detail that will make it a valuable collectors Item in years to come. However, I would recomend this doll for the adult collector over little girl that's going to be playing with her a lot. For the younger barbie fans I would recomend the version of the doll with the smaller fixed wings that are stationary. She's as pretty as the one with the big wings and a lot more durable for play.
Thanks, take care.
Angel.

annoying
Again, the wings fall off all the time. It's really annoying. If my daughter puts it down on its back, at least one wing falls off every time she picks it up. She loves the darn thing, but can't put the wings on by herself, so more than once has ended up crying because it keeps falling apart. I know it's only a matter of time before a wing gets lost - why would we ever want the wings to come off? Why couldn't they just fuse the wings to the doll in the first place?
