If you've never played Scrabble before, the Gameplay Guide explains the rules in a clear, easy-to-read way. It also has lots of tips to sharpen your game (a list of "q-without-u" words, for example). The sturdy plastic board needs no assembly and the storage trays cleverly built into the bottom of the board are easy to find, especially with help from the Gameplay Guide. The game also comes with a Gameplay Guide that offers many helpful hints, as well as interesting historical tidbits (For example, did you know the game used to be called "Criss Cross Words?") A Sleek New Look for Scrabble Fun and Functional Millions of people around the world love the game of Scrabble, and we're sure they'll be just as happy as we are to see this new, improved edition with features that make it both more fun and more functional! What's in the Box User Submitted Scrabble, Diamond Anniversary Edition ReviewsDate: 2008-11-11 Diamond Anniversary Edition Scrabble I have several Scrabble games, but this one is now my favorite. The case, the board, the tiles - I like everything about it. After receiving mine, I immediately bought one to give as a gift, and have decided to buy another one to give as a Christmas gift. Date: 2008-11-10 Forget it. Go back to tried and true. COLORS awful I bought this because I wanted the most easily turning board with tile holders. The COLORS are awful. Why change them? The 3xword is ORANGE! People make mistakes in scoring because of color changes. And the tiles are more easily moved or shifted compared with the original one. DON'T get this. I'm planning to return mine. Date: 2008-10-18 great! this is a good product. integrated storage (2 trays) is well designed, bag in tray for tile transport helps prevent tile loss, tray itself is large enough to present tiles for the game, other tray holds the racks with room to spare, seems durably constructed (time will tell). board indents help keep tiles in place. the only improvement i can think of at this time is: the transport (folded) size is about 10" x 15", i think it could be reduced to about 8.5" x 15", making it more compact. anyone willing to pay the price for this particular version knows the game and its value and doesn't need the logos on the sides of the open board to be as large as they are. Date: 2008-10-09 Nice, good prices, but some minor problems A turntable Scrabble, with a raised grid (no letters sliding all over the board!), and fold up. Very easy to carry and fits nicely on shelves at home. All that for under $[...]. Very nice. I like the black tiles. However: -the drawers are not well made, and are a little annoying to handle. It feels they will open anywhere... -the bag has only one drawstring, not two. This seems like a detail, but the result is that it does not stay close, and re-opens itself. The combined result of the bag and the drawer = high risk of losing tiles. (in fact, a friend of mine lost two letters the very first time she took the game somewhere...) -no score pad. -no sand timer. (the last two items would be expected in a "diamond anniversary edition", although the price is low, so ...fair enough) -the curved racks take more space. If you play on a cafe type table at a Scrabble club, it does not fit. Ugh. -I would have liked a better guide. For example, my game did not have the two word list. In an anniversary edition, I would have liked to see more. Maybe a past newsletter of NSA, or a short history of the game etc. -I'm with a lot of the other reviewers on the colors: To me, the original colors are part of the Scrabble history, it's a little disappointing. Besides, they should have kept the same meaning, "triple letter", for the red, the one color they kept. The overall result of all these "vibrant" colors is a bit overstimulating -- which was clearly the point (I hope the next anniversary edition won't feature flashing light up tiles and cell phone type ringers on the high value tiles!) but it's not too bad. Overall, good value and nice features. It's a good game for home and to take along...(but keep it in a bag so the drawers don't open on the way!) Date: 2008-10-06 Best portable Scrabble yet! My wife and I are extremely pleased with this edition of Scrabble. The raised grid holds the tiles in place nicely, the wheels allow the board to pivot really easily, and it's just a good, self-contained design. I'd recommend this version of Scrabble to anyone who has a desire to play away from home.
