User Submitted John Deere Gator HPX ReviewsDate: 2008-10-30 Love this Gator! I love this gator so much, I just purchased my second one. I have 3 boys and the kids ride the gator around the neighborhood, load of their fishing items and go to the pond, plus help with landscaping etc. around the house while loading up the back of the gator. My 2 1/2 year old drives it like a pro. I have been VERY pleased with this gator. It is fun and functional for the kids. I would highly recommend this product to anyone! My boys LOVE this item! From a mother's stand point, it keeps my kids (and the neighbor kids) entertained for hours! Date: 2008-10-15 JOHN DEER GATOR!! I GOT THIS FOR 2 OF MY GRANSONS AGE 3 AN 4. THE BATTERY DOES NOT LAST LONG ENOUGH U HAVE TO CHARGE IT EVERY NIGHT TO USE THE NEXT DAY AN IT WILL RUN FOR 1-2 HOURS. ALSO BOTH OF THERE REVERSE WENT IN THEM. HAD TO RIP IT DOWN AN ORDER THE PART. NOT BUILT LIKE THEY LOOK!!! Date: 2008-09-13 Great Ride-On Toy but Needs More Safety Features My son received this from his grandparents for 3rd birthday. My son loves tractors and he has a little brother so the two-seat Gator was a perfect choice over some of the other vehicles out there. It was the hit of the party. My son jumped right on and started riding. After about a week, he had the hang of putting it in reverse and in high and low. It comes with a screw adjustment so that you can leave it as is and it will go 2.5 mph or take the screw out which give you a second gear and allows it to go 5 mph. We took the screw out because it just gave it more power. Our yard is a little bumpy and the Gator would get stuck in the ruts and spin its tires in low gear but in high gear, it zips right along. My biggest complaint is that it needs a shut-off switch or a key that can be turned off and taken out. (It has a key but it is not functional but is just for play.) The boys can jump on and take off before we've had a chance to buckle them in and put their helmets on. It's also hard to get them to stop and I usually always end up getting my foot run over getting them out because if their foot is still on the pedal then it will run. I really wish it had a key that you could just reach over and turn it off. We completely unhook the battery now so we know they cannot get on and ride without supervision. The battery is also not very easy to get to. You must remove a screw and snap the front of the machine off to access the battery. It is recommended that you charge the battery immediately after each use so it would be nice if it was more conveniently located. We bought a 2nd battery so we could have one charged up at all times. Overall, it is a great, fun toy that has plenty of power but I still think it needs a little more safety devices. It would also be nice if the Gator wouldn't start unless the seatbelts were snapped. We have another machine that works that way and it is a nice safety feature. We are just keeping a very close eye on our boys to ensure that they are always properly secured and have their helmets on. They love this so much that riding their Gator is their favorite thing to do. Date: 2008-09-10 Great Toy Bought this for my son and he just loves it! He is always wanting to ride it. The battery could stand to last a bit longer, but overall this is a great toy. Friends of ours have the older version and my sons is by far better! Date: 2008-08-09 Great Ride on I bought 2 of these for my 2 boys and they are going nuts over them. They are very good in the grass, better on grass then on asphalt. The price is great at amazon to. A little rubber would be better on the tires but the company has not figured that out yet. The battery has gone a hour so far while in high gear and it should go alot father. My kids have 2 other cars and the Peg Perego motorcycle and by far the Peg Perego products are much better. You also get a 2 year warranty.
