I don't think so
Battleship deserves 2 stars but only for the idea. It's so hard to learn how to even play the game. I don't own it but have tryed it and belive me it's not the ultimate classic.

Great for all ages
Fun for everyone. It's a great way for youngsters to develop their math and logic skills without even realizing it. Games often go down to the wire, so there's plenty of excitment as well! Easily portable, Battleship is perfect for long car trips or vacations, and finding the little white and red pegs under the sofa years later will remind you of the good old days.

Original is Best!
One year we bought our son the electronic battleship game. This was a big mistake! It was very difficult to operate, so that the opponent could get on with their turn. Also the pieces kept falling apart. This is the same as the original battleship game which is great fun! Don't try these new electronic versions, as you will find it as disappointing as we did. This is the one you want, and it's great fun!

fun way to learn grids!!
My son (5) got this for Christmas and it has been his favorite game ever since. He enjoys playing and learns how to read grids at the same time. At first I gave him a bit of help but no more!! He beats me most of the time now, no more help, lol! I liked this game as a child and I still like it. Nice break from money and dice.

Great for building kid's eye-hand coordination
My little boy of 6 loves everything to do with planes, ships and cars. He is left-handed and having trouble with handwriting. His teachers suggested activities that would strengthen his "pincer" motion in his hand -- pinching the thumb/forefinger together. This game, with all those little pegs that have to be gotten into the right peg, does the job beautifully. It will help build his ability to write neatly, and he just thinks he is having fun! Also good for learning alphabet/number sequencing.

I loved the game as a girl in the 1960's and I enjoy watching my son have so much fun. The only problem, mentioned elsewhere, is that the storage of the peg is not very well designed and they tend to overflow oout of the container when opening the battleship boxes.
