Worth every penny!
I purchased an identical one of these several years ago and my kids played with it for hours on end. It definately inspired creative play and they loved it. I had four children living in my home, boys and girls, from 3 yrs old to 12 yrs old and they all played together using this toy. Wonderful toy and well made too.

cash register
I purchased this cash register when my son was in preschool/kindergarten. What a sturdy and terrific toy!! This is the only toy that he continues to use. In the beginning he used it as a "play toy", but since then we have used it to count back real change (3rd grade math skill) and now he uses it as his real bank to keep his money safe. What a deal--4 years of use for $30!!!!

Super fun and way educational
I bought this toy last Christmas for my then 5 1/2 year old daughter. Thought she'd like it, as this is a girl who was pulling all my shoes out of the closet and playing "shoe store" from the time she was 3. An immediate hit - she and her cousin love to play shopkeeper and "sell" stuffed animals, etc from their room to their parents/customers. The cool part for parents is that your kid gets practice counting, adding, multiplying, and making change through creative play - lots of opportunity to them to become familiar with math concepts. The age range says to age 8, but I can see my daughter playing with the cash register until she's 10, easily.

Durable, works great..smells
This is a very good cash register and it is durable but I noticed after a time that the money smelled like poop, I think it has something to do with the electronics in the register, I've tried putting dryer sheets in the drawer but than it just smelled like downey poops, I've cleaned it too but nothing seems to work. And no my son didn't do anything to cause this odor. Finally I threw the money away and bought him the McDonald register which came with food, a headset, and McDonalds visor, he plays with this much more than the old one and it works just as good. I also purchased a jar of money that I think Amazon sells, it's cash, change and a check book w/ pen, very cute.

Great Toy
I bought this as a gift for my 6 yr old son. Quality: It's sturdy, well built, and easy to use. The register came with play money that resembles real currency (both paper and coin). We also bought the optional scanner. That's great also. It actually scans UPC labels that came with the scanner and verbally states the price. Both provide great fun. The only draw back is that this play register is layed out just like a calculator. It does not have preset (quick pick) buttons like a real register (example: 5 cents, 10$, etc...) It would be better if it's buttons were more like a register. Also, the drawer opens extremely fast and often dumps the play coin money. With that said, the real look and size of the money combined with the optional scanner's function make it a good purchase.
