Counting and motor skills for young children.
As soon as my daughter was interested in counting I started looking for this game. She absolutely loves it.

Play is very simple and requires counting skills up to 4 by at least one player. The small cherries can be a problem with children who like to chew on things, but putting them on the tree and then "picking" them helps with finer motor control. The central spinner also helps with motor control (you have to be able to spin it without knocking all the cherries around).

The board is a cardboard insert that has punch out holes for the cherries, built-in baskets of four colors and a central spinner. Being cardboard, it can suffer damage if leaned or sat on, but otherwise it is a good design.

Great for Counting, Teaching Subtraction
My twin 4 year old boys love this game. It's a fun game and educational. Just don't tell the kids their learning! I have found the best way to teach is by playing fun games like these. Children practice fine motor skills, counting up to 10 even subtraction (if the parent makes that part of the game). It's a game that is fast paced and fun. It's a good game to pull out when you don't want to play one of the longer more involved games. It can also be played several times so everyone has a chance to play it and win. My kids can't wait to yell Hi Ho Cherry O when all the cherrys are off their tree and in the buckets. Parents will enjoy playing it, too. You probably could even add a science aspect to the game by researching and sharing facts about Cherry trees.

Fun counting game
My son got this when he was 3 years old. Now he is 4 1/2 and he still loves playing this game. One draw back is that the cherries are so small that they are easy to lose, even with adult supervision. I would like to see a couple of extra cherries included in the package. There is an order sheet that you can use to order extra parts too. The other drawback is that the spinner can be a little difficult for small hands becasue the board is cardboard & it catches the spinner so it does not turn very well.

Just don't let them know they are learning!
This classic game is a big hit among pre-school and kindergartners. I played it as a child, and use it with my students now. It is excellent for building beginning number concepts. Kids love to play this game (just don't tell them that they are learning!)

Great first counting game!
My daughter loves to play this game! She got it last year for Christmas when she was 3. Now a year later, she still likes it. It's a fast, simple game that teaches the kids to count, as well as use their fine motor skills.

It's just one of those games that should be in everyone's toy closet (or room, or shelf)!
