for kids too
between chess and checkers, othello finds it's place in developing strategies. It takes a while to predict the game who can always change until the last piece is on the board. My eight years old girl like it .
A good and fun buy...enjoy.

Great game
This game is simple to learn yet still challenging enough to keep it interesting. We have an only child in the household (8 years old) who loves to play games and we are challenged to find games that are interesting enough for the adults yet not too complicated for him. This is it! The whole family loves it!

Othello
This is a great game for ages 7 and up. Very simple to learn, it takes just a few minutes. Just "book end" your opponent's pieces and flip them to your color. The player with the most pieces at the end wins. Sounds easy enough. It's strategy!

Excellent First Thinking/Strategy Game for Kids
Bought this one recently for my eight year old (and myself) to enjoy and it truly took only a few minutes to explain it to him and we were off and loving it. More challenging than checkers and less complicated than chess makes it a very accessible game for an eight year old yet not too easy or complex such as can be the case for those two aforementioned games. I highly recommend it as it can help your child in a number of ways in terms of concentrating and focusing, thinking spatially, understanding the consequences of a move or moves, and introducing the concept of strategy.
