User Submitted Melissa and Doug Beginner Pattern Blocks Reviews (cont...)Date: 2007-05-06 Great set The boards & pieces are very sturdy. The spaces for the pieces don't require a tight fit (a good thing!), making it hard for little fingers to get exact placement. The variety of pictures is good and the pictures are very clear. I worried that DD might not "get" what the pictures were so I was pleasantly surprised. My daughter received this for Christmas when she was 26 months. It was a hit right away. After a couple months, though, she played with it less & less. It comes out usually once every ten days or so now (she's 31 months) where it was a 3-4 times A DAY toy in the beginning. She is a puzzle whiz, so that may be why she's outgrown it already. Though the age says 2 and up, I think my daughter could have worked it when she was 16-18 months. We borrowed Melissa and Doug Pattern Blocks and Boards from a friend and she loved that set. I think, though, that we are going to hold off a little longer and then purchase Melissa & Doug Deluxe Wooden Magnetic Pattern Blocks Set instead. That one has smaller pieces but more variety. Date: 2007-02-08 Block puzzle Excellent puzzle for child almost two. Bright colors and interesting shapes. Lots of variety in a wooden box. Date: 2007-01-05 Great Fun and Educational Toys I have several Melissa and Doug toys; several were purchased for Christmas for my 2 yr old daughter. She loves puzzles and is having a lot of fun with all of them. The pattern blocks is just the right level; it takes a little challenge to get the triangles the right way in the puzzle, but she can accomplish everything by herself. It's a toy we can play with together and it's easy clean up. I love the sturdiness of the various puzzles I have purchased through this company; it's nice to have something that isn't going to break after it has been used a few times. Date: 2006-12-30 Fun geometric puzzles My daughter loves this set of puzzles. Its well made, colorful, easy to manipulate, and every puzzle is different enough that they hold her interest. I love that this is a set that comes in a box, and the way the box is constructed so we can get at everything. Date: 2006-11-08 Sturdy and educational plus fun! My daughter got this as a gift for her 2nd birthday. Not only does she love putting the puzzles together - and double the fun being two-sided - her 4 yr old sister also enjoys it. It is useful to teach more complex concepts to our 4 yr old, such as 2 triangles make a square, 4 triangles make a rectangle. Both girls really enjoy this toy, as with all Melissa and Doug toys, it is very well made and will withstand abuse. Just wish it was easier to fit the plastic cover on, we can't seem to fit the shapes neatly to close easily, especially in a hurry. A minute inconvenience. A great toy!
