My opinion
Secrets Can Kill had lousy graphics, but I'll forgive them because it was their first game, after all. The plot was good, the puzzles were OK, and it was kind of easy.

Stay Tuned For Danger is one of my favorites. The plot is awesome, the puzzles are great, and the ending is OK. The graphics were good.

Message in a Haunted Mansion is one of the more boring NDs. The plot isn't particularly interesting, the puzzles aren't particularly interesting, and the ending isn't particularly interesting.

Treasure in the Royal Tower was OK. The ending was cool, though, and if you're interested in French history, specifically in Marie Antoinette, then you'll like this one.

The Final Scene was a good one. It was fun, challenging, and the puzzles were good. The graphics were great, even though I really don't think such a popular theater would be so run-down.

The Secret of the Scarlet Hand was fun, educational, and had great graphics. If you're interested in the Mayans, then this is the game for you. I warn, you though, it has a VERY creepy ending... if you're squeamish, then don't watch the ending.

The Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake was the very first ND I ever played, and one of my favorites. The puzzles range from easy to hard in it, so I never got bored. I got stuck, though, and ended up consulting a walkthrough. The plot was great, and the graphics were awesome.

The Haunted Carousel is another one of my faves. The graphics are REALLY good, and this is the game where Her Interactive began providing cellphones. The puzzles are fun, and then ending is fun.

Danger on Deception Island is a good one. I like the idea of the orca and everything. Very good graphics and storyline and OK puzzles. The ending was good.

The Secret of Shadow Ranch was fun. The plot is good, and you get to ride a horse and feed the farm animals. The puzzles were fun, and the graphics were great, and having that phantom horse running around was great. The ending was good, too.

The Curse of Blackmoor Manor is one of my top faves. The puzzles were nice and hard. When you completed a puzzle, you got something for it. Great graphics and storyline. The puzzles were great, even though some of Janes puzzles do get a little trying. I was kind of disappointed on who the culprit actually turns out to be, though, but it's still a really great game.

The Secret of the Old Clock was OK. Since it is supposed to be in 1930, there is no cellphone. The graphics definitely went down. There are no "I feel as though someone is watching me" moments, except for when Nancy scares herself in that secret passageway. The mini-golf was easy, and kind of pointless. Basically, I wouldn't recommend this one.

Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon was good. They introduced a cameraphone in this one. I didn't like the graphics very much, but the puzzles were good. The ending was fun.

So, basically, from STD to CBM, the graphics were great. But after that, they changed the way they made them up, and the graphics really went down.

Game was fun
This game was fun but short. the thing i love is that within the game you have games you must play and complete in order to go further with your investigation. The only thing i didn't like about this game is that nancy's voice is so irritating and annoying like she was on too much prozac. Anyways one part i thought was poorly created was when i had to guess the password for the computer. Realistically all passwords must be one word (no spaces) so i tried everything. Finally i gave up. What do you know? in this game the password contains a space between the 2 words (which is not realistic to real computers) but oh well i just move on. Overall it was very fun to play and im in my mid 20's :)

THE BEST NANCY DREW GAME SO FAR!!
There are about 15 Nancy Drew Mystery Games out right now and this one still remains my favorite! Lots of fun and excitement, great characters, graphics, music, suspense, puzzles, everything! I felt like I was re-living one of the Nancy Drew books I used to read! The endings of these games are what should be the big payoff for players! Some can be a bit dull. But this one had one of the best endings as you use your wits to defeat the culprit plus there was a lot of suspense. Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake also had a really fun, exciting ending as did Secret of Shadow Ranch. I hope the Her Interactive Team uses these 3 games as prime examples of how the rest of their future releases should be!

The Nancy Drew games got off to a slow start but eventually picked up steam when the third installment (#3) came out taking us to San Francisco in The Message in the Haunted Mansion. Two more great mysteries followed with a snowy blizzard in Wisconsin #4 - Treasure in the Royal Tower and #5 - The Final Scene where Nancy sleuths around an old charming theatre house. I was not 'thrilled' with #6 - Scarlet Hand, it takes place in a museum and just seemed rather boring overall. #7 - The Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake was my second favorite after Deception Island. AWESOME! #8 - The Haunted Carousel takes Nancy to a popular Amusement Park in New Jersey I believe. That one tops my list somewhere as well, there is just a really annoying talking robot throughout the game that will get on your nerves. Otherwise, that one is great fun! #10 - The Secret of Shadow Ranch was my third favorite as Nancy finds herself in the dry desert of Arizona. #11 - The Curse of Blackmoor Manor was an interesting entry in the series taking place in a New England mansion but yet not as exciting. #12 and #13 - The Secret of the Old Clock and The Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon were pretty good as well. Blue Moon Canyon is a bit claustrophobic at time seeing how you are on a narrow train. I have not played #14 and #15 yet which finds Nancy in both Paris and Hawaii.

Here are how I rate the games so far excluding #14 and #15 which I haven't played yet.

1. Danger on Deception Island
2. Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake
3. Secret of Shadow Ranch
4. The Haunted Carousel
5. Message in the Haunted Mansion
6. Treasure in the Royal Tower
7. The Final Scene
8. The Secret of the Old Clock
9. Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon
10. Curse of Blackmoor Manor
11. Secret of the Scarlet Hand
12. Stay Tuned for Danger
13. Secrets Can Kill

All-time favorite
The ninth of the Nancy Drew Mystery Series. This is my favorite game, so I'm gonna go nuts here. Things are graded A-F, just like school.

The Crime: A +

Nancy tries to take another vacation, this time by spending some time on Katie Firestone's whale watching boat in Snake Horse Harbor. The minute she arrives, plans change! Katie's boat has been vandalized. An orphan orca has shown up in the bay and there are different opinions as to what to do with it. Did Katie's big mouth get her in trouble?

Suspects include fisherman Holt Scotto, cafe-owner Jenna Devlin, and rival whale watching tourguide Andy Jason.

I'd never had a chance to learn anything about whales or the ocean and thought this was an endlessly cool premise.

Puzzles: A +

Nancy has to figure out everything from nautical terms to knots to Morse code. People give her tasks and quizzes. It can be as easy as making a sandwich or as hard as traveling underground tunnels and counting rocks.

Gameplay: A +

This game has it all. You can spend time out on the water in a kayak, eat a bowl of hearty chowder (or maybe a blueberry muffin) in the Hot Kettle Cafe, read about the local sea monster, build sand castles on a remote beach and dig for clams in the sand.

The only thing missing is maybe romance. But you get to talk to Frank and Joe Hardy on the phone, so that's close enough. (I love those boys.)

Time Changes: None.

Voice Acting: A +
In a word, perfect.

Favorites -
"Ah. Nuts." Andy Jason
"Next one'll be on the house, too." Jenna Devlin
"Vote for Holt!" Holt Scotto

Music: A +

I loved, loved, loved the music. The travel music was jaunty and perfectly fit the ambiance of the tiny seaside town. Especially cool was the little flute trill that occurred as you finished a puzzle.

Graphics/Video: A +

Getting better and better all the time. Bonus points for the animated sequences such as the whale watching tour.

Technical: B

I'm one of a few people who have had this problem, but no matter what I did, DDI wouldn't fully install on my computer. There was an error copying files and no matter what I did, it wouldn't fix it, even following HI's advice on the technical support board. Running the game from the disc rather than installing to my computer fixed the problem completely though.

Overall, I think this one is the pinnacle of HI's goodness.

If you love Nancy Drew, this one's for you. All-time favorite.

A great game!
This is a great game and was worth while. It was full of surprises, adventures, mysterious suspects, and exiting puzzles. This game is the best Nancy Drew game so far!
