User Submitted 101 Piece Play Food Assortment Reviews (cont...)Date: 2008-01-07 Excellent and fun toy My daughter is two years old and learning the words for everything. This is excellent for the more common food words. For example we gather all the fruit types together and I "name" them for her and then throw them all back in the box with the other food and ask her to get the apple, or orange or banana or strawberry. Date: 2007-12-29 Nice but too many pieces and they are too small I bought this for my niece with a shopping cart, but there are too many pieces and they are too small for her. I ended up returning it. It's hard to find a simple food set but this one is aimed at older kids. But I bet it will drive parents crazy with all the little pieces being all over the house. Date: 2007-12-26 Fun for kids but NOT safe My only issue with this set is the size and shape of many of the items. The hotdogs are the same size as a child's throat. Same with the sushi. There are quite a few items in this kit that could easily block a child's breathing airways- especially since it is play food and I'm certain many children will put it in their mouths. We went through it and pulled out the items we thought were dangerous. Date: 2007-12-12 Picture didn't match product. I was disappointed that I didn't recieve the play food assortment that was pictured/discribed. I wanted the canned and boxed foods that went along with the common food items. Instead I recieved 101 pieces of food. Some are a little strange looking, like the shrimp, for a 3 year old to play with. I've read reviews about this product discussing the strange sizes of the items. An example being, the bananas are really small, but I believe they are made that way so each item can fit on your child's toy plate or in their pots and pans. Overall...my daughter will have fun with them. Date: 2007-12-09 Made In China with NO information on lead level safety I ordered this product with knowledge that there are no canned goods or food boxes with the other food items, thanks to the prior customer comments. The description should be changed. The packaging is very plain, including two plastic bags with the toy food items, then enclosed within a plain, white, small box. There was no attempt to make the toy display-worthy. I ordered it through Wal-Mart to be shipped to one of their stores for pick-up, but since there was an option to have it sent to my house, I assume all orders come in this unattractive packaging. There were many different items within food groups, but many items were not formed on all sides, but rather looked nice on one side and flattened on the other, which cheaped the appearance. (As if a vegatable was cut in half the long way.) There was one huge problem for me, which caused me to return to item on the spot at the Wal-Mart pick-up: This toy is made in CHINA and the plain box had no consumer information, no telephone number to the company, no assurance of safety and no address. Since it is toy food, kids will naturally pretend to "taste" it, and with lead used often in Chinese toy manufacturing, this item is a risk to use, especially for younger kids who are most likely to put it in their mouths. I have since found many similar toy food sets in local chain stores and they have not been recalled, so I am glad I did not keep this product.
