User Submitted Fisher-Price Laugh and Learn Learning Puppy Reviews (cont...)Date: 2008-07-18 Makes my daughter cry This is a horrible toy. My two year old daughter got it as a birthday gift from her godfather, who bought it because of the fantastic reviews. It arrived broken -- one of the paw pad sensors doesn't work unless you squeeze it just right, with two fingers. In the past Fisher Price has given me fantastic service, so I'm sure they'll take care of that problem when I get around to calling. The really terrible thing about this puppy is that when you hit a sensor, the toy stops whatever it was doing and starts a new thing. The sensors are super sensitive, and will go off if you just brush up against the toy. My daughter wants to hear the songs all the way through, and sing along, but of course she wants to be able to hold or touch the puppy at the same time. So the song stops, then it takes like five tries to cycle around to the song she wants, then she hugs the puppy and the song stops again. After about ten minutes of this she was in tears. I've never see my little girl so distraught -- she's not a kid who gets discouraged or cries much, but she just collapsed into my arms in tears of frustration. I felt awful for her. Other things I don't like about it: 1. The "this little piggy" chant is turned into "this little puppy," so now my daughter has started saying that, and I prefer the classic rhyme. 2. There's a whole part that says "blue ear," "yellow foot," "green hand," when you hit those body parts. But because it cuts off when you hit the sensors, it can sound like "blue -- foot," when the foot is actually yellow. My daughter repeated "blue foot," and I had to correct her. 3. It says "I love you". I generally don't like inanimate objects saying they love my child. If Fisher Price just made the slight change of having this puppy complete what he's doing before starting the next activity, we'd probably love it! Date: 2008-07-17 ard to maintain attention This is an incredibly cute toy. My 2 yr old got it as a present at 18 months and thinks it's very cute, but it doesn't hold his interest very long. My major beef with it's too easy to press a body part by hugging it or moving it around. For toddlers who like to touch and move things and not just sit, watch, and listen until a song is over, it's a problem. You press its paw, it sings, and then when your toddler ends up hugging it, or wanting to play with it in different ways, he activates other body parts. So you basically never get to hear an entire song all the way through unless you insist that your toddler move away from the doll to listen to it first. Date: 2008-07-08 annoying! This dog is so annoying! my daughter (9 months) likes it ok, but is easily distracted away from it; and the darn thing drives me crazy! it won't stop talking, even if you press the button on the foot to off mode. if you turn it off on the batary case inside the velcro closure, it will obviously turn off though. the button in the ear won't work either. i just think that there are much better things out there that you could spend your money on. just my opinion. Date: 2008-07-01 Love, love, love it! My son has loved this puppy since he was only a few weeks old (he is now 9 months). He loves the singing...it always puts a smile on his face, and he loves squeezing the different parts to make sounds (loves the cause/effect). The only thing is the ear doesn't work anymore. But, I think it's because the little one chewed on it too much and broke it. Anyway, it's still a great toy and he's had so much fun with it! Date: 2008-06-30 Cute toy but you have to turn it off after every use!!! First off we really like this toy. It is great teaching kids all the different body parts. We would give it a 5 star except that our kids rarely play with it. Even when it was brand new they had very little interest in it. We have a 1 , 2, and 3 year old. All boys. The other reason for the lower star rating is because the toy almost gave my husband a heart attack and has sense been turned off and put in storage. We have always kept it off because the boys never really touch it. One day they were playing with it and so I turned it on. Playtime was less than 5 minutes and I forgot to turn it off. The next day we left town for a few days leaving my husband at home alone. The second night we were gone at about 3am the toy woke up. My husband woke up to the toy saying "i see you".....my husband woke up with an almost heart attack. He ran into the hallway looking for a crazy person only to hear "i need a hug". He then realized that it was a toy by the sound of the voice and location from which it was coming from. He was furious and we no longer have the toy. So 3 stars due to having to turn it off after every single use. Parents remember things like nap time if you forget to turn it off not to mention bed time.
