User Submitted Nancy Drew: Secret Of the Old Clock Reviews (cont...)Date: 2006-08-22 omg OMG how can u think the music is dull??????????? Its some of my favorite music for the games. It's lively. You might not like it but it's definatley not dull! Why would you have scary music in a friendly scene???? This game is not scary!!!!!!!!!!!!! Date: 2006-08-20 Fun, But Short I really like this game, especially that you get to drive [having 4 more years before I can even touch a wheel, this is awesome! :-)]and that it is set in 1930 (awesome!), and that you get to use a 1930 payphone (don't ask me why I like this, I just do. Maybe because you don't have to dial numbers? YAY!),and that you can talk to Nancy's dad (first time ever!) and that in my opinion, Bess and George are really funny in this one (and they have "a nosy busybody", as Bess puts it, sharing their phone line), and that you get to go fishing (though it's not exactly hard. Strange, the fish is in the same place.....EVERY. TIME.) and that there's a minature golf course (which, though sometimes annoying, is actually quite fun overall)! Sooo... what don't I like? For one thing, saying the game is based on the book is exagerating. Hello? The game is nothing like the book. OK, there's a clock. Oh look, another clock. And- *GASP* - ANOTHER clock???? As I recall, the book had ONE CLOCK (that was significant) in it! Also, Nancy stays at Lilac Inn in........the FOURTH book! Plus about every other change you can think of. (Guess what? In the game, the banker, Jim Archer, is about 50 and married, and the president of a bank. In the book, Helen Corning marries Jim Archer. I can tell you this: the two Jim Archers are NOT the same person.) OK. I don't really care if it's not like the book, it would be cool, bubt also pointless- you already know what is going to happen! So, I can see why the game is nothing like the book, but saying it is based on the book is not true! (In case you read the book and you think you know what the game is like.) I didn't really like the ending. It's different, which is good, but...I don't like it. (It's a...chase. No more said in case I spoil the ending.) But even though I probably seem like I hate the game, I actaully like it. It has pretty good graphics, an "upgrade" for the most part, there are quite a few puzzles, none particuarly challenging but more or less interesting, I like all the characteres, though Richard Topham and Jan Willobee talk a LITTLE too much. Plus I wanted to... do something to Jane. She annoys me SOOOO much. But she's funny (not on purpose)at least, her eyebrows go waaaaay up. It's funny. LOL. See for yourself. I actually reccomend this game if you don't mind solveing it quickly (I solved it in 7-8 hours, about 3-4 hours per day). It's good for beginners and people who like fast-movingn games. Overall, it's not at all a bad game. I play it over and over again! Date: 2006-07-22 Normally I LOVE Nancy Drew, but... My sister and I love the nancy drew mysteries that come out on CD-ROM and we are constantly checking to see when the new one is out. We've done all the mysteries, and we usually do the junior sleuth because its easier. But The Secret of the Old Clock was TOO easy! We sloved the case in a couple of hours and were bored wanting to know if they had developed the next one yet. I agree with the last reviewer that is a little boring with driving the car, and my sister and I kept doing the deliveries because it never said that you could just stop! So we made like 20$ and finally got sick of it and went back to the lilac inn and they didnt say anything else about it! Well if you decide to get it you should definitel play the senior sleuth if you want a challenge, because on the junior one my sister and i definitely didnt get one at all. Date: 2006-07-20 Not the best... First off i just want to say that i've read "The Secret of the Old Clock" and it made this game even more boring because i knew the basic outline. I see in an above review an adult of the age 35 loved it, which i can understand. But I'm 15 and i found this game OVERLY boring. The puzzles were way too easy, and driving around in the horribly done car part of the game made me want to quit playing. It says youll get a pay if you do some chores for people...i didnt get anything. Although I love herinteractive and and i love all the other nancy drew games i would highly reccomend you dont waste $19.00 on it. I would only reccomend getting it if it was in a value pack of Nancy Drew games. Date: 2006-07-13 I was not disappointed. As always, the Nancy Drew games do not disappoint. Personally, I quite enjoyed driving around delivering telegrams, if for no other reason than to keep my cash flow going, and to tour the rest of the town. I must admit, I was a bit confused as to why HerInteractive wouldn't have incorporated the Courthouse into the game for some purpose, but hey, it's nice to see they have a penchant for detail. After all, what town doesn't have a Courthouse? heh. Indeed, this game could have been designed to be twice as enduring (and there were several ways this could have been accomplished), but to be honest, enduring does not equate with endearing. Every ND game has satisfied me on many levels, even if a few levels were left wanting. I also enjoyed going back in time to 1930, albeit there were a few inconsistencies regarding what took place when, i.e., the turntable revolving the wrong way, et al. ...however, a good detective will notice these faux pas. Like I say, there's rarely any disappointment when it comes to the Nancy Drew games. One can only hope they continue to create these games indefintely. My only gripe is that they come out with only two games a year. My wish would be for four or five. :)
