User Submitted LeapFrog Learn & Groove Musical Table Reviews (cont...)Date: 2008-12-27 Completely addictive for just-learning-to-stand little ones! My son's babysitter bought this table for him when he was 11 months old and just getting into standing for long periods. Soon, I was joking that it made her obsolete. He spent about an hour a day, in small increments, just walking around the table (there's something interesting on every side) and manipulating all the various tabs, switches, knobs, and buttons, enjoying the sounds they produced. This toy is brilliantly designed. Here are my favorite features: 1. It's pleasant for mommy to listen to. No shrill "fake baby" voices or cacophonous "music." The piano keys play pleasant jazzy riffs that actually sound really musical. The voice is an accomplished-sounding female singing in a jazz/R&B style. There are a great multitude of sounds and songs on this toy, and none of them are hideous, jarring, or overly loud. Mommy's nerves appreciate that. In fact, many times I found myself scat-singing along with the joyful female voice! 2. The controls are all different -- not just an assortment of buttons. There's a "book" with a "page" that "turns"; there's a banjo with a neck that moves; there's a spinner; there's a compartment that opens and shuts; there's a "slide" on a trombone, etc. Flipping certain switches had the effect of changing "modes," which kept the kid engaged for long, long periods, as he tried to figure out what controlled what and what kinds of effects each switch might have. 3. There's a Spanish mode. It's always good to expose tykes to language early, and this is a pleasant start. The instrumental songs are different in Spanish mode, too; they're, well, Spanish songs. 4. It's a sturdy little table, well able to handle the weight of a leaning toddler. About a year ago, when my boy was 2, we had to put the table away for space reasons (construction work). Just after he turned 3, we took it out again, and he lit up with joy and fell to playing with it passionately once again. That's what I call a great toy. Date: 2008-12-27 The BEST Activity table!! From the age of 8 months, this is my daughter's absolute favorite toy. She is entertained by the great assortment of buttons, spinners, keys and sliders. It has two different features...a learning side which introduces opposites, numbers, letters and other words, or flip the book cover in the center and your child is exposed to a great assortment of musical rhythms. It's the best and I can't think of one complaint I have with the product. She has yet to get tired of it! The best gift ever!! Date: 2008-12-26 Very recommended I bought this product for a friends 16th month old son, for Christmas, and already told by her and seeing her son yesterday ON Christmas, that it is a very good product for children to learn from and keep them occupied. So highly recommended. And best part is he will not out grow it in just a few months, that it will continue to be teaching him and having enjoyment at the same time. Date: 2008-12-25 Play time table toy Activity with a enough going on to keep any kid entertained. It switches from music to alphabet and Spanish or English. Our daughter plays with it regularly. The best part about a table style toy like this is that it prompts her to go to a supported standing position - something she just started doing. It also functions pretty well without the legs off, or with only two legs on. Not sure if the manufacturer recommends it this way - but it makes the toy accessible to smaller kids, or ones that aren't ready to stand, and I don't see any obvious danger with it. My biggest complaint is that once you put the legs on....you probably won't get them off. If they made the legs removable, it would have made it a more flexible and portable product. Date: 2008-12-23 DAUGHTER LOVES IT! Great product. Would recommend this toy to every parent. Black Sheep storefront is a rip off...just get it at ToysRUs! They sell items like this for over a hundred dollars. I think we purchased this particular item for like $40 bucks!
