I must admit, I was a bit shocked when he opened it and I saw how small it was. We ordered the ants shortly after Christmas and received them about a week later. When we opened the package, we thought all the ants were dead. It's pretty cold here in Michigan this time of year....But, after 10 minutes or so, we noticed them moving so we put them in the habitat and they are fine....every single one of them. All five of my kids (ages 5-16) love this toy. They have to check it before school in the morning and it's the first thing they do when they get home. We decided it would be "safest" on my computer desk...HA! I just want to watch it while I work and it's a great night light! I'm thinking we are going to need at least one more of these. Date: 2008-01-13 Fascinating Ant Farm The ant farm has been worth every penny! It has been a hit for the entire family and guests that visit! Everyone is fascinated by the ants and the tunnels that they create. The ant farm is really clear allowing you to see the tunnels and ants very easily! I would highly recommend this product! Date: 2008-01-12 Fascinations ANTW2 Antwork Illuminated This item was one of my 3 boys (ages 14, 12 & 7) favorite items received for Christmas! Everyday we all (mom & dad included) get up in the morning to see what the ants have done overnight! It is one of the coolest things we have ever had (and we have had alot of different kinds of insects and animals). It was definelety worth the money and I would highly recommmend this to anyone!!!!!!!!!!! Date: 2007-12-27 No Problems at All Yet My sons got this for Christmas. About 1 to 2 weeks before Christmas, my husband ordered the ants online from antsalive.com and selected for the ants to "arrive shortly after Christmas". Well, we got them the DAY after Christmas. We were VERY surprised. To let you know, we live in Montana. When we opened the package, the ants in the vial appeared DEAD. However, let me assure you, they are very much alive. I was ready to throw them away and start sending my email to "deadants@antsalive.com" as instructed. But my husband said to just dump them in and see what happens. Within 30 minutes, most of the ants were moving all around the habitat. By 1 hour, they were ALL alive but ONE ant. I picked him out with tweezers and tossed him, and now we have 24 very much alive AND tunneling ants. I had no problems whatsoever with antsalive. And I know those ants sat in the cold somewhere over Christmas Day because there was no mail that day and they arrived here from Utah the next day. My only complaint is that the ant habitat itself is much smaller than I was expecting, but my children don't care. We are enjoying this, and when the ants die (1-3 months it says), we will just spend a whopping $4 and get some more. Big Deal! Date: 2007-12-22 Good Product, Antsalive.com is HORRIBLE! Well I love the Antworks product itself, It lights up and looks like 4 big spotlights shining up its really cool but do NOT trust Antsalive or Lifestudies to buy your ants. I called them Monday and said "I need the fastest shipping you have so the ants dont die in the freezing winter temperatures" and they said "Well standard shipping is guaranteed by Thursday and thats free" so I accepted, well its saturday and still no ants! They ALSO are only open 9-2 Mon through Thursday, and NEVER answer their phone during business hours. They'll FOR SURE be dead by Monday if they even come then, find another company, they arent trustworthy at all whatsoever. Now I'm gonna have to reorder them cause i'm only gonna recieve a frozen tube full of dead ants because they're liars. Buy the product, its really good, but either find another ant supplier or pay the overnight 20.00 so they live in the winter temps, and dont trust their lies about arrival times.
