Wanted to love it, but ...
This item is a great idea, but the velcro broke after my 3-year-old hit the ball just three times. Nearly [...] and it came apart in less than 30 seconds. I exchanged it for a new one at Wal-Mart, but the velcro on that one lasted four sessions before detaching. I tried everything and couldn't get the velcro to reattach.

Broken in less than a week
My son really wanted this toy. He's 5 (on the small side) and was so happy to get it for christmas. I put it together and my baby 14 mo loved it too. He liked the sounds and pushing the button. It worked pretty good ... getting the ball and putting it avail to hit. Until the chubby friend came over and hit the ball. the velcro piece the ball attaches to is on a platic string. It completely broke (unfixable) the first time my son played it with a friend. One week later. I spent like $50 for this toy. I am NOT happy. I think I might try to get another one.

Big hit in our house!
My sister gave this to my twin boys for their 5th birthday, and they are in love with it. I managed assembly myself; it was marginally annoying but not too bad - I'm sure my husband could have done it without blinking, but he wasn't in town. It's quite sturdy - it's been on our back porch for the past 4 months and been rained on a bunch and still works perfectly. My kids are pretty rough on it, too, and it's holding up well. They love it. They're very tall for their age though and are almost too tall for this toy, even when it's set to the highest notch. I'd say if your kid is under 45 inches tall or so, they won't have any trouble using it. Overall, I think it's worth the buy. My kids definitely think their auntie is awesome for giving it to them!

I don't have to like it. The kids do!
I actually bought this at a yard sale for $1 (What a steal!!!) My 2 & 3 y/o boys have wanted it forever!! It only came with one ball, so I was on here looking for more. I saw they were listed for $16.99!!! Fisher Price has them on their replacement parts site for $6. The kids really enjoy pushing the button over and over, and i' glad because they have to! The arm is malfunctioning. I was going to replace the batteries, but then read the reviews and decided that it must be a common defect. It doesn't really bother the kids too much, so I am not going to let it bother me. Just gonna buy more balls and relax while I watch them play..

My toddler LOVES this toy, and so do his friends
My 2 1/2 year old loves it. Dont listen to the nay sayers. I dont know what there is to gripe about. It works great. My boy beats it to death with the included bat and it still works great.

Loads of fun
