We were searching for a doll house, and all seemed to be plastic junk, made for barbie size, boring, or very expensive. This was a great find (and at a great price). Warning: the Melissa and Doug doll house furniture are really too big for this. SOLUTION: The Playmobil stuff, Royal Bedroom #4253 by Playmobil for instance, is PERFECT. They have several rooms meant to extend the Playmobil castle that fit nicely as additions to this castle (we have the kitchen Royal Kitchen). All the playmobil stuff goes in a box, the castle folds shut, and the whole thing can go in the closet when my daughter is not playing with it. Yippie! Date: 2008-02-28 Your Little Girl Will Love It! This wooden folding castle is well made and compact, and a little girl's dream come true. I came upon it while searching for something else on Amazon. I was pleasantly surprised to see that Amazon sold it for about $40 less than our local toy retailer. As with the other reviewers, I purchased the Disney Princess dolls that stand about 4" tall. It almost became a mission for me to obtain all the princesses, too. Do not purchase the 10" dolls that are recommended by Amazon. Obviously, they will be too tall to use in the castle. The castle is great for siblings and/or play mates, too, because it opens to be about 3'. My daughters love it! I only wish that Melissa & Doug made wooden furniture to use inside the castle. I ended up purchasing a miniature dining room set from Pottery Barn Kids (from the Westport doll furniture collection) so our princesses would have chairs. I eventually plan to browse some hobby shops to see what I can find. I would suggest going to craft stores such as Michael's if you're interested in finding miniature medieval characters to add to your castle. The castle is great for little hands, and since the castle folds compactly, we simply store all the Disney princesses and their wardrobe inside of the many rooms of the castle. Your little girl will love it! Date: 2008-02-09 Fold Up Castle This a wonderful gift for a little girl. It is even a little baetter than the fold up doll house I bought at Christmas! Date: 2008-02-06 awesome deal got it from amazon with super saver shipping and it turned out to be a little over half the price of what i would've paid locally. i was shocked how fast it came and how well it was packed up. my daughter really likes the castle and loves to play with it in all configurations. not sure how educational it is, but at 4 years old she loves it. the only downside is you'll lose a bit of floor space. Date: 2008-01-29 a great toy! We bought this castle for our 4 year old for Christmas and the look on her face when she first saw it said it all. She has played out every fairy tale she knows and made up some new ones! We bought figurines from the Papo company and they fit pretty well - a few of the skirts are too wide for the doorways. It opens up to make play easy and folds up to make storage easy as well. This is a great toy for the princess lover in your family and of MUCH higher quality than most of the plastic toys out there. It is well worth the money.
